7amleh is pleased to announce that Prof. Fabio Cristiano and his team at Utrecht University are collaborating with 7amleh on an in-depth research project examining censorship of Palestinian content on Meta’s platforms.
As part of the 2025–2026 joint research initiative, Prof. Cristiano is leading a comprehensive analysis of Meta’s policy application, communication practices, and censorship patterns affecting Palestinian digital expression between 2021 and 2025.
The project includes a systematic review of Meta’s policies, quantitative and qualitative assessment of dominant censorship trends, and focused investigations into critical issues such as the treatment of terms like shaheed, the handling of content from Palestinian media outlets, and the moderation of symbols such as the Palestinian flag.
This collaboration deepens 7amleh’s ongoing efforts to document systematic digital rights violations and advocate for accountability and transparency in global platform governance.
