Call for Article Proposals

Technology has profoundly transformed every aspect of modern life, and more recently, the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence has further accelerated these changes. In the Palestinian context, shaped by the realities of occupation, understanding the impact of technology and AI has become essential to understanding everyday Palestinian life, as well as the systems through which Israel exercises control over Palestinian people, land, and identity. Against this backdrop, the Institute for Palestine Studies (IPS) and 7amleh - The Arab Center for the Advancement of Social Media invite submissions of article proposals for a special bilingual dossier to be published in both Arabic and English, with selected articles appearing on the “Flilistin Al-Maydan” blog on the IPS website and on 7amleh’s website, under the theme: “Palestine in the Digital Age: Technology, power, knowledge, and impact on the Palestinian context”

The dossier welcomes contributions addressing topics including, but not limited to:

• Social media and Palestine: Palestinian communication and policies of silencing.

• Documentation and archiving in the digital age.

• Military artificial intelligence and AI-enabled systems of control.

• Artificial intelligence, training data, and the Palestinian narrative.

• Technology in the Palestinian context: blessing or curse?

• Technology companies and their role in the Palestinian context.

• Technology and knowledge in Palestine: knowledge production and systems of control.

Abstracts of no more than 200 words should be submitted by 30 August. The proposal should briefly outline the article's central argument and scope. Abstracts may be submitted in either Arabic or English.

Authors of selected proposals will be invited to submit full articles under the following guidelines:

• Articles should be 1,500–2,500 words in length.

• Submissions should be grounded in research, documented evidence, and analysis.

• Articles must be original and unpublished.

• Authors should include a short biographical note.

• Articles may be submitted in either Arabic or English and will subsequently be translated into the other language for publication.
