Dear friends and colleagues,
As digital platforms continue to shape public discourse and access to information, questions around platform accountability, censorship, and freedom of expression have become increasingly urgent, particularly in the Palestinian context.
7amleh and The Contesting Governance Platform at Utrecht University invite you to the launch event of the new research report:
“The Platformicide of Palestine (2021-2025)”
Developed by 7amleh in partnership with Dr. Fabio Cristiano from Utrecht University, the research presents groundbreaking findings and dataset-driven analysis documenting the censorship of Palestinian content across Meta platforms between 2021 and 2025.
Drawing on thousands of documented cases collected through 7or Observatory, 7amleh’s reporting platform, the research examines how Meta’s moderation policies and enforcement practices have impacted Palestinian digital expression, media coverage, advocacy efforts, and civic space over time.
The discussion will also address the broader implications of platform governance during conflict, and the growing need for transparency, accountability, and rights-based approaches to content moderation.
