7amleh Documents 19,000 Violent Tweets in Hebrew on X (English)

The Arab Center for the Advancement of Social Media has detected more than 19,000 cases of hate speech and inciting content in Hebrew language on X (formerly known as Twitter). There has been a significant increase in this type of content since October 7th, the first day of the recent escalations, and the number of posts continues to rise. The cases documented included various forms of harmful content, with 50% categorized as hate speech, 30% categorized as fake news or promoting violence and incitement. Furthermore, 48% of these tweets were politically motivated, while 32% of the posts contained racial bias, and the remaining content also included gender and religious discrimination. Additionally, 357 violations have been reported through 7or - the Palestinian Observatory for Digital Rights Violations, from Oct. 7th through Oct.

7amleh Documents Rise in Hate Speech and Incitement in Hebrew and Urges the Public to Report Cases of Incitement (English)

In light of the recent escalation of political events in the country, 7amleh - The Arab Center for the Advancement of Social Media had monitored and documented hundreds of cases of digital rights violations through "7or" platform since yesterday. These violations include cases of hate speech and incitement to violence in Hebrew, deletion of Palestinian content, as well as the restriction of accounts advocating for Palestinian rights. 7amleh maintains continuous communication with social media companies and has successfully acted on a significant number of these violations so far.

A digital watchdog has warned of increased hate speech and incitement to violence against Palestinians in the Hebrew language. The Arab online rights organisation 7amleh said Sunday that they had monitored and documented hundreds of cases of digital rights violations through its "7or" platform following the latest escalation of violence between Hamas and Israel, which began Saturday. The digital monitoring group said the violations included cases of hate speech and incitement to violence in Hebrew, deletion of Palestinian content, as well as the restriction of accounts advocating for Palestinian rights.

Raseef22 approached the General Director of 7amleh - the Arab Center for the Advancement of Social Media, based in Haifa, Nadim Nashif, asking whether Israelis are subjected to the same treatment from Facebook, X, and Instagram? He replied: "Certainly, social media punitive measures are not applied to the Palestinian and Israeli sides in the same way, and there is a clear bias in favor of Israel." He added: "In recent days, we have witnessed a noticeable escalation in digital rights violations on social media in light of the current political situation. We have monitored more than 259 reports on the 7or platform since the beginning of the events on October 7 until now. These reports included 99 A violation that includes suspending and restricting pro-Palestine accounts and removing supportive content, and 160 violations that include hate speech and incitement, especially in Hebrew.
