One Week Left Until the Launch of the Palestine Digital Activism Forum 2024 (English)

The Arab Center for the Advancement of Social Media will launch its 8th edition of the Palestine Digital Activism Forum next week under the theme "Artificial Intelligence (AI): Revolutionary Promises & Discriminatory Realities." The forum will be held virtually on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 4-5, 2024, with wide participation from around the world. The forum, coordinated by 7amleh, aims to put Palestinian digital rights in the spotlight both regionally, and globally, as it discusses various aspects of AI technologies’ impact on Palestinian digital rights and its permeation into various aspects of life, especially during times of crises and the war on Gaza. The forum is organized in collaboration with 50 partner organizations and will host 70 local, regional, and international speakers and trainers.

Surveillance and interference: Israel’s covert war on the ICC exposed (English)

For nearly a decade, Israel has been surveilling senior International Criminal Court officials and Palestinian human rights workers as part of a secret operation to thwart the ICC’s probe into alleged war crimes, a joint investigation by +972 Magazine, Local Call, and the Guardian can reveal.The multi-agency operation, which dates back to 2015, has seen Israel’s intelligence community routinely surveil the court’s current chief prosecutor Karim Khan, his predecessor Fatou Bensouda, and dozens of other ICC and UN officials.

From Habsora to Lavender – The Israeli AI ‘Machines Hunting Down People’ In Gaza (English)

This has come after renowned Hollywood actor, Mark Ruffalo, retweeted an article written for the MIT’s Technology Review about the subject. Since November of 2023, when +972 Mag published its investigative article entitled “A mass assassination factory’: Inside Israel’s calculated bombing of Gaza”, the extent to which the Israeli military is relying on AI technology in conducting its assault on the Palestinian territory has been public knowledge. The piece revealed that Israel had been using a specific Artificial Intelligence program eerily called Habsora (The Gospel), in order to auto-generate targets at a speed which would not be humanly possible without it.

Instagram hides Israel’s Rafah carnage, bans and removes content (English)

As Israeli forces killed over 35 people in Rafah on Sunday night, Instagram has been inconspicuously siding with the Zionist state, trying to hide the massacres unfolding in what has been marked as the last remaining “safe zone” for displaced Palestinians in Gaza. But an increasing number of users posting about Israel’s war on Gaza which is widely considered by students, democratic nations and those with a conscience as a “genocide”, intent on terminating all Palestinian presence –– have found that their content has disappeared, or worse, that their accounts have been suspended.
