7amleh denounces and condemns the latest coordinated smear campaign against our organization, led by extremist far-right organizations and anti-Palestinian organizations who work systematically to silence Palestinian voices.
Haifa, 5 July 2022-- 7amleh-The Arab Center for Social Media Advancement is a non-profit organization that was awarded the Index on Censorship Freedom of Expression Award in 2020. 7amleh’s work aims to create a safe, fair, and free digital space. For a long time, our research shows a shrinking in the civic spaces, human rights work, and freedom of expression in the Palestinian civil society, because of the systematic efforts to silence our voices, dehumanize us, and exclude us from the international arena.
7amleh denounces and condemns the latest coordinated smear campaign against our organization, led by extremist far-right organizations and anti-Palestinian organizations who work systematically to silence Palestinian voices and prevent Palestinians from having the right to freedom of expression among other rights. This campaign is no different and relies on flimsy and discredited information.
The attack on civic spaces, in general, comes among the biggest attack on Palestinian rights, as well as the Israeli and Palestinian human rights organizations that work with great effort for freedom, justice, and dignity for all. Therefore, we reject all discredited information that is being published against 7amleh. Accordingly, we call on 7amleh's partners and allies, as well as, the local, regional, and international progressive civil society organizations to stand by 7amleh and confront this fierce attack against human rights organizations, including ours.
Since its establishment, 7amleh works to build the civil society organizations' capacities in the field of digital advocacy, digital safety and activism, monitoring and documenting digital rights violations against Palestinians carried out by various perpetrators in online spaces, including technology companies and different governments, preparing and publishing studies, reports, and papers regarding digital policies and regulations that affect Palestinian digital rights, and organizing and leading, evidence-based, multi-layered advocacy campaigns on the local, regional and international level to hold the tech companies accountable and push them to comply with the international human rights law as well as human rights and business principles.
Last but not least, despite all the smearing efforts by the Israeli extremist, far-right and anti-Palestinian organizations, 7amleh will continue its work with its allies and partners for a fair, safe, and free digital space.
