Twitter has signed a memorandum of understanding with 7amleh - the Arab Center for Social Media Advancement, as a member of its Trust and Safety Council, particularly under the Human and Digital Rights Advisory Group. Twitter considers members of this group as partners addressing key challenges and policy issues in the areas of human rights, freedom of expression, civil liberties, and the defense of the digital rights of users of the platform.

The Council is made up of a number of independent, expert organizations from around the world, who advocate for digital safety and advise Twitter in developing its products, programs and policies. The council is divided into various advisory groups, each of which specializes in specific issues; such as security issues, online harassment, human rights digital rights, suicide prevention, mental health, child sexual exploitation, and dehumanization.

The Human and Digital Rights Advisory Group, that 7amleh just joined, engages Twitter on priority challenges and policy issues in the field of human rights, freedom of expression, civil liberties, and the defense of people's digital rights on the platform.

Recently, 7amleh worked to document and monitor violations of Palestinian digital rights on the platform, and followed up with the Twitter team to resolve them and also to promote Palestinian digital rights in order to create a free, safe and fair digital space for Palestinians. According to a report issued by 7amleh last month, the center was able to recover 96% of the cases reported to Twitter, as a trusted partner of the company, in addition to other social media companies including Facebook, Instagram and others, where the center works on influencing content moderation policies, as well as escalating and resolving cases of digital rights violations.
