Juman Quneis, Instructor at the Media Department at Birzeit University, will examine the concept of “digital occupation” and Israel’s use of social media as a space of surveillance and control.

Nadim Nashif, Al-Shabaka Policy Analyst and Director of 7amleh, will focus on Israeli online incitement and harassment to crack down on Palestinian freedom of expression online. He will also examine Facebook’s pro-Israeli bias through censorship and information sharing policies.

 Al-Shabaka Policy Analyst, Sam Bahour, will share with us the experience of 43 companies that published an open letter requesting PayPal to work from the Occupied Palestinian Territories. What happened? What was the outcome? What are the lessons leant? How could we strengthen advocacy efforts in the future?
